NEED to READ!

El Chapultepec, Denver, Colorado
Thursday, 08 September 2011 01:16

elchapultepec5Located in Denver, CO, El Chapultepec is one of those legendary bars you hear about and are able to go to only when extremely lucky. This place has been standing since 1933, and was a beatnik hangout for Jack Kerouac and his crew.

But the history really started in 1958 when Jerry Kratntz took it over from his father in law. That's when Jerry introduced jazz at the El Chapultepec. At first it was only a couple of nights a week, but by the time the 80's rolled around there was live jazz every night for free.

Then you look at the names of the people who've played here: Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, and many more.

Put this place on your short list of bars to see before you die, or it vanishes from sight.
